Better UX for CK Editor

CK Editor: Add/Edit Links

The CK Editor is one of the most popular WYSIWYG editors on the market. There are a large majority of 3rd party editors are actually built on the open source CK Editor, and many CMS systems include it as is. However, there is one 'feature' that drives me up the wall when it comes to User Experience. The Target tab in the Insert/Edit Link window.

As you can see from the above screenshots, when you go to add or edit a link, if you want it to open in a new window (Which you should always do for any external links) then you much also click the Target tab in order to set this. If you're adding/modifying numerous links at a time, this can become quite tedious.

Simplified Add/Edit Link WindowThere is really no need to have this single option in a separate tab, especially when it directly relates to the content being entered in the Link Info window.

As you can see from my graphical mock-up, simply moving the option for Target out of it's own tab, the process is simplified, reducing the need for an additional click to switch tabs. As the saying goes, KISS: Keep It Simple Silly!
